Love Fattburger! My sis turned me on to them back in the 80's when I lived in San Diego. Today I live in Chicago and have listened to them ever since!
I was recently saddened to learn of the death of Carl Evans Jr. and Hollis Gentry. It makes me feel older..my old stompping grounds (San Diego) won't feel quite the same, but having your music around will! That's something that we can take with us and will never die! Love to all of you that made Fattburger and other ventures a pleasure to listen to! Fred Hochrein www.goldstarservices. biz |

I'm sorry to hear about Carl. I just found out about his passing, and My deepest thoughts are with the Family. I had the honor of Opening up for Fattburger at Cafe Jazz in Cupertino, CA in 1989. I hope that the Group will continue the creative process, and I believe that's what Carl would want. Keep up the inspiration!
Best Regards, Mitch www.cdbaby.com/rymer |

I've been a huge fan since my college days at SDSU back in the mid 80's. I still remember the first time I saw the band perfom at humphrey's. Carl's passing is a big loss to the San Diego music community. Many people probably don't remember Ella Ruth Pigge, but I'm sure her and Carl are working on some great music together in heaven. Please continue to make great music and move forward. Phoenix would love to have you here in the future.

I was listening to smooth jazz on live365.com when I noticed the name Fattburger. I thought the name was a bit "odd" but the sound was something I liked. But being new to smooth jazz, I figured "oh well, nice name, but whose ever heard of them. How wrong I was. Thanks guys for broadening my musical horizons.

I only found out about Fattburger a couple of years ago, but it quickly became a favourite to listen to while working or relaxing. Excellent production values, good tunes with great harmonic structures (I'm classically-trained), smooth musicianship.......what more could one ask for? And now to read that Carl passed away in April is very sad indeed. Wherever he is now, may he know that his work gave pleasure to many.

Carl Evans Jr. has passed. I'm saddened.
Truly sad news. A rare and talented man, member of a rare and talented group. Always a smile, a good word. Optimism. Please send my condolences to the family and the band. Signed, A face from the past. |

My wife of were courting in the 80s. We lived in S.D. and fell in love to Carl's "One of a Kind" and Mark's bass solo on "Valentine" at the PB Cafe. We are truly saddened but I must admit it has given us this time to remember a wonderful period in our lives. Thank you Carl. Walk Good.
